Our phlebotomy service is for people who live, or are registered with a GP, in Barnet, Kensington & Chelsea, and Westminster and need to have their blood drawn for diagnostic testing or monitoring.

Referrers

This information is for GPs and other healthcare professionals who refer patients to our phlebotomy teams.

Referral criteria for our phlebotomy service

  

Barnet

  • No children under the age of 12
  • 12-16 year olds to be accompanied by parent or legal guardian with consent
  • All referrals must have a request form completed and signed by their referrer

Kensington and Chelsea

  • No children under the age of 16
  • All referrals must have a request form completed and signed by their referrer

Westminster

  • No children under the age of 12 
  • Service operates on a walk-in basis - there is no prior booking arrangement
  • All referrals must have a request form completed and signed by their referrer
  

What referral information does our phlebotomy service need?

  

Patients will need to bring their blood test forms with them to the chosen centre, please ensure that the patients NHS number is included on the blood test form.

Patients booking an appointment over the phone will be asked to provide their name, DOB, GP name and practice and a contact number in order for the appointment to be given

When referring a patient for Glucose Tolerance Testing (GTT) please ensure that the patient has been given the correct information in regard to the length of time the test will take (2 hours).

Appointments for the community phlebotomy service can be made by calling 020 8962 4339 Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am to 1.45pm.

Colville Health Centre, Kensington Park Road - appointment only service every Thursday; patients should call 0208 962 4339 between 8.30am and 1.45pm Monday to Friday to make an appointment.

St Charles Centre for Health and Wellbeing - appointment only service Monday to Friday. Patients should call 0208 962 4339 between 8.30am and 1.45pm Monday to Friday to make an appointment.

Violet Melchett Clinic South Kensington - walk in service every Monday 9am - 12.30pm (patients should endeavor to arrive before 12pm to ensure that they are seen before the service ends).

Westminster

Please complete a referral form and ask the patient to attend the walk-in service at one of the centres.

South Westminster Centre for Health, Vincent Sq, SW1P, 2PF - 8am to 15.30pm

Health at the Stowe, Harrow Road, W2 5ES - 8.30am to 1pm

Belgravia Surgery, 26 Eccleston  Street, SW1W 9PY - 8am to 12pm

  

Waiting times for our phlebotomy service

  
  • On average, waiting times are 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Urgent bloods will be processed on the day where possible.
